Style‧Encounter Moment – Fashion Exhibition of the 2013 Subsidy Programme for Fashion Design on Sample Making

Jane Chan, with a bachelor’s degree in clothing design from Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology (BIFT), worked for Kappa, Jack & Jones, Peak and other brands as designer. Her designs were showcased twice on the fashion trend website, WGSN (Worth Global Style Network). In 2010, she designed torch bearer uniforms for National Intercity Games of the People’s Republic of China, as well as uniforms for numerous national Olympic delegations. She returned to Macao in 2013 and designed her casual wear collection for men, “BOMDIA”, which was selected to the “2013 Subsidy Programme for Fashion Design on Sample Making” by Cultural Affairs Bureau. Now the designer is the director for local brand “MACON”

Brand：MACON is an original fashion brand introduced by Fuson Garment Factory Limited in 2013. It is also the first Macao fashion brand that has successfully launched on the shopping platform TMall.com. By now, MACON has a brick-and-mortar shop in mainland China, attracting lots of shoppers and earning great reviews. By integrating its design concepts with Macao’s characteristics as a city of leisure and tourism, it advocates downshifting and travelling light. Its products aim to be comfortable and simple, thereby injecting a boost of unisex and arty youthfulness.

Wai Chin Seong

Influenced by her mother since childhood, Wai always had a keen interest in fashion design. After graduating from high school, she went to Shih Chien University, Kaohsiung Campus in Taiwan area, to study fashion design and marketing. From 2010 to 2012, she went on to ESMOD Beijing for advanced studies in fashion design. She was selected to showcase her graduation project “O LA LA” at the Beijing Fashion Week.

Wai has gradually cultivated her unique personal taste and distinctive design style. In 2014, she worked as the costume designer and character image designer for two Macao movies, Timing and Our Seventeen. Her works were often showcased in Macao, Hong Kong, Beijing, Taiwan area, etc. In 2016, Wai brought the Spring/Summer 2017 Collection of her own brand, “POURQUOI”, to the prestigious Haute Couture and Trendsetter Fashion Exhibition “TRANOÏ” at the Paris Fashion Week. In 2017, POURQUOI was invited to various clothing exhibitions

Brand：POURQUOI means “why” in French, which is children’s favorite question. Experimenting with new inspirations and unconventional thoughts, the designer mixes fun and fantasy elements into her creations, turning each piece into a little riddle. All the POURQUOI works contain some hidden details, serving as “little secrets” that give the wearer never-ending, child-like surprises.

Vincent Cheang,

Cheang Chi Tat is a designer, media producer and musician. He joined Radio Macau in 1989, founded the EPH–Eureka Production House Design Company in 1995. After quitting Radio Macau in 1999, he went on to participate in the establishment of Green Village 738 Radio Station, for which he served as Program Director. In the same year, he graduated from the Graphic Design Program at the Macao Polytechnic Institute. In 2005, Vincent founded the XL CREATION Entertainment Production Company while serving as a tutor in design and illustration for the Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Centre (CPTTM). In 2007, he established the Band L.A.V.Y., and in 2008 he founded the Live Music Association (LMA), which is dedicated to promoting music and musical exchanges. In 2010, he created his own clothing brand, “Worker Playground”. In 2012, he established the Union Design & Planning Co. Ltd. Currently he is a guest lecturer at the Macao Polytechnic Institute and a tutor for design courses at CPTTM. His brand became the official apparel design and manufacturing partner of the Macao Grand Prix in 2016, and the official apparel partner of the “HUSH!” Full Music in Macao in 2017.

Brand：Worker Playground, created in 2012, was named after Macao’s long-gone Workers’ Stadium. Worker Playground specializes in manufacturing jackets with design elements featuring Macao historical themes, such as local aviation history, Macao’s scenery in the old days, the once-popular sports jai alai and hockey, as well as the varying lifestyles and cultures of different districts in Macao. “For Boys Want to Be Men, For Men Want to Be Boys” is the latest slogan of Worker Playground. It demonstrates that the brand targets both younger and mature men, well manifesting its “ageless” spirit.

Chantelle Cheang is a film art director and fashion designer. She has developed a keen interest in art and design since she was a child and has taken design courses as an exchange student in Singapore. In 2011, she began to dabble in the film and television industry and was involved in many commercial shoots as an art director and costume designer. In 2013, she established her own brand Chavin Art & Costume Design. Meanwhile, she also designed uniforms for Suncity Group and served as stylist for several Sands Cotai Central’s advertisements since 2016. In addition, she was four times the finalist for the Cultural Affairs Bureau’s “Subsidy Programme for Fashion Design on Sample Making” between 2013 and 2017.

Chavin is a designer brand from Macao – the Oriental Las Vegas. The brand was founded in 2013 by Chantelle Cheang and Mac Chi Lon. Chavin firmly believes that modern women deserve unique clothing that allows them to give off their charisma. Women’s lives should be as wonderful as fashion shows and the whole world should be their runway. At present, the brand mainly produces Haute Couture, evening gowns, wedding dresses and accessories. Its sister-brand Aries and Mars, launched in 2018, is dedicated to experiencing every rite of passage with the ladies. Chavin also provides one-on-one personalised services for customers as well as styling and design services for films and television.

Cheong Oi Leng,  graduated from the Fashion Design Department of London Saint Martin’s College in Britain, and has worked on fashion design over eight years. After graduation, she served as designer in Alexander McQueen and Giles Deccon, thus she owns plentiful experiences on advanced clothing design. In the 2013 & 2014, she participated in the“2013 Subsidy Programme for Fashion Design on Sample Making”and“2014 Subsidy Programme for Fashion Design on Sample Making” were selected into the final eight, Now, she is preparing for the launch of the first collection in current year. A Lin also has experiences on advertising design, even more she once designed the window display and brand ads for the famous brand“UM”.

Brand： “A Nos Amours” is a fresh fashion designer brand. Our brand’s concept aims to integrate the advanced ready-to-wear clothing, sexy pajamas and attractive leather accessories into a brand story. This idea comes from the dressing style of current celebrities, such as the famous American singers Rihanna, Madonna and Lady GaGa, etc. Their clothes dressing dominate the global fashion show, while their typical styling frequently mixes the ready-to-wear clothing and sexy underwear with provocative costume props.
